A few challenges in one....

Hi Everyone,

I am so sorry I haven't posted anything for the past week, I just wasn't feeling the best, and was busy with work! I did this card for a Created Byhand Challenge, Window card challenge, and a girls night challenge. The Byhand challenge was to make a card using dream somewhere on it, the window challenge explains itself, and the girls night challenge was to make an interactive card. My mind must be on halloween or something, because until I showed my card at girls night, I didn't realise how green she looks....like the incredible hulk, or perhaps she is green with envy...or just plain SICK! !! lol Urgh..I don't like it at all!!..nothing I can do about it now...wish I could have redone it though! (sorry, I took the green face out, I didn't want to see it anymore! lol) So when you first look at the card, it shows the green face, and when you pull the tab on the right, she shows lavendar. I really prefer the lavender. Oh yes, and the card had to have bling as well! Anyway, we do an exchange and I got Julies card!!! It's a purse card, and it's amazing!!! Check it out here! Thank you so much Julie!
The face stamp is from Viva Las Vegas, and all the other stamps are from Quietfire Design.

Well, I best get to bed here....hope you come back soon! I will be posting more over the weekend as I have 4 days off!! Woohoooo! lol

Challenge Me Thursday - Will have to wait.....

til tomorrow....sorry Ladies! I just haven't felt the best for a few days. I started my card, but I am too tired and have to go lay down for a bit, and will probably fall asleep for the evening. I will finish it up tomorrow after work, take a photo and post it. And yup, and I am doing the window card challenge!! A bit different for me, but I like it! lol

So, until tomorrow....sweet dreams!

Gentle Thoughts Quotations Book

Hi Everyone,
Suzanne from Quietfire Design just put my book on her website, so now I can share it with you! I had so much fun altering this chipboard book. I wanted the focus to be on Suzanne's beautiful quotes, but there are some images from different companies used in the book. All the background stamps, the flourishes, music background, crows and sentiments are all from Quietfire Design. I used Versafine inks, distress inks, and maybe a bit of Ancient page as well. I had fun distressing everything! lol

So here is my book! Be kind....it's my first one! lol
Here is also the link to my book so you can see the instructions if you like, and there are links to each Quietfire Design stamp that I have used! Easier to do some shopping that way! lol
Enjoy your evening!
:)

Thursday Challenge - Duet stamp from Inkadinkado

Kim's card Val's card
Afternoon Everyone,

Today Val and I challenged each other to use the same stamp and we had to colour in the image. I had to laugh when I saw Val's card because she and I used basically the same colour scheme. Val watercoloured her image, and I used Copics for mine. I added some clear spica glitter overtop of my colouring, and used a couple cuttlebug embossing folders for my card. I think Val's card is more elegant, and mine is more cutesy.
I just realised this card is good for the Whatchadoin Wednesday challenge on the Storage Units, Inks and More blog! Their challenge this week was to use the cuttlebug folder somewhere on your card, and I used 2 different folders on this one, so it's good to go! lol
Thanks for stopping by today! I have something special to post a bit later....drop by if you can! I will give you a hint, it's something I have never done before! lol
See you later!

Challenge Thursday- Already have a challenge

This week I am doing a challenge with Val. We both ended up at one of the local stores, Photo Memories, and we both bought the same stamp. So we challenged each other to use it for Thursdays challenge. This is the stamp, and we have to colour the image. I am interested to see what she is going to do for colour....watercolour? Markers? Hmmmm...I guess we will find out tomorrow!!

Thanks for stopping by!

A couple Created Byhand Challenges

Good Evening Everyone,

I finally stamped last night! It's not that I haven't wanted to, but I have been busy! Hubby is finally finished a long job, and we had the weekend to spend together, and he has been home at a decent time at night lately! lol I love having him home more, I missed him even though he was working in town, I didn't see him much for over 2 months. I don't know how he works 16-18 hours a day without any days off.

Anyway, enough of that! Here are a couple cards I created for the Created Byhand Challenges. I missed last weeks, so the Papillon card is for the Pin Back Challenge, and the Car card is for this weeks challenge.

The Papillon card is done using the instructions posted on the Created Byhand Challenge site, I did change mine up a bit though, and just used d/s patterned paper and cut it. I used a Quietfire Design collage image for the center of my card. The image is black and white, so I used my photo pens to colour a bit of pink on the flowers in her hair. Also used were the Flourishes 1, and the new stamps of the butterfly and the sentiment. I quite like the way this card turned out and can see myself doing this type of card again.

The longest journey card was done for the Journey Challenge. The car stamp is from the Tim Holtz line of stamps from Stampers Anonymous, and all other stamps are from Quietfire Designs.

For the more vintage style cards I always used alot of distress inks from Ranger, which you can also find at Quietfire Designs. If you haven't stopped over there for awhile, you may want to check it out! Suzanne just released more of her GORGEOUS rubber!!! You are going to LOVE it all!

Thanks to Suzanne and Kelly for the awesome challenges,, and thanks to you for stopping by!

Have a wonderful evening,
:)

Challenge Me Thursday - Buttons and 5 stamps or more

Good Evening Everyone,

Since no one posted a challenge this week, I went with 2 challenges from the last Thursday. Paula challenged me to do a card with 5 or more stamps, and Barb challenged me to use buttons! I combined both of these in the one card.

The main image is a favorite of mine from Viva Las Vegas, isn't she beautiful? The others are a combination of Inkadinkado and Kelly Panacci (Sandylion). I stamped them all on background paper, then distressed. The main image was cut out with the Nestabilities, gotta love those things! lol Not sure where I acquired the buttons, but they matched quite well, thanks for the great challenge Barb. I used 2 different inks for stamping the images, Archival Sepia, and Versafine Sepia. Even though they are both Sepia, they are very different in colour and coverage. The green paper is Coredinations, and I did a little strip of it using the Swiss Dots folder. I ended up using 6 different stamps on this card...great challenge Paula!

Thanks so much for stopping by, and I look forward to some awesome challenges next week! Get your thinking caps on everyone! lol

Have a great evening,
:)

A very late Thursday Challenge!

Sorry for being soooo late everyone!!

I decided to take the challenge of a Christmas card for the week that I had missed! If no one issues a challenge this week, I will pick another of the last challenges! There were some great ones there!

I also did this challenge with another stamper, it was to use the same Santa stamp from The Stamp Shack. It is also the first time I have used any of the MANY stickers I have? I have received some as raks or design team items, but never used them, so I thought it was time!

Thanks for playing along with me ladies, hope to see your challenges on Thursday again!

Why haven't I been online?

Well, it's been awhile now hasn't it?

I am sorry that I neglected my blog for a couple weeks there. I decided to surprise my husband and bring his youngest daughter out to Halifax for his birthday! I think this is the first time in the 8 years we have been together that I actually pulled one over on him! It was hilarious! I snuck out of the house when he was sleeping and picked his daughter up at the airport. We got back home and she decided to jump on the bed to wake him....well, he sure was woken, but he was wondering what the HECK I was doing jumping on the bed....he cursed a bit, then rubbed his eyes and realized it wasn't ME jumping on the bed! He got up for a couple hours and visited, got up in the morning and told the guys he wasn't coming into work, he took some vacation days!

We went deep sea fishing in Lunenburg, and had a blast! I have some pics to share with you, but the ones hubby took didn't turn out, they were all white? Anyway, we caught Mackeral, Cod and we saw adorable seals, and a SHARK tried stealing a cod off my line!!!! One of the young fella's on the boat actually hooked him for about 10 minutes, then the shark got away! He really was beautiful, he was a Blue Shark, and about 7 ft. long. Closest I have ever seen a shark, we could have touched him he was that close! Of course I got sun burnt, but it was WORTH IT! lol

We did some shopping, and headed to the Bay of Fundy, but the tide was high and we couldn't walk in the mud...lol...went to Evangaline Beach and that was beautiful. We also just spent some great quality time together, and I did have to work a few days, so hubby and daughter had some quiet time to themselves as well.

One of the girls at my work is a photographer and took a few pics of Peter and his daughter for us! I will also share a few of those!Anyway, it took us the weekend to get used to his daughter not being here anymore. It was a fantastic visit, and we both miss her terribly. Yesterday was the first day I got a chance to get back into my happy room, I will post some pics as soon as I can of what I have been working on.

Have a wonderful day everyone!
:)

Blogger is not co-operating with me today! It won't let me load the pics and put them where I want them! Anyway, above is the town of Lunenburg, it's a very tiny town in Nova Scotia. If you click on the pic to make it bigger, you will see all of downtown. It's a beautiful place to go and be tourist, do some shopping, and eat lunch over looking the ocean.

The 2 pictures above were taken by Kate, a friend from work. This is my wonderful husband and his beautiful daughter!

The picture below is of the natural caves along one of the National Parks. If you click on the picture to see it bigger, you can see the people on the stairs. The stairs did go down further, but the ocean tides and waves eventually wiped them out. They say that alot of people use their kayaks to go into the caves. I for one wasn't even thinking about that! lol...Who knows what creepy things are in there! lol

This is the Deckhand of the boat we were on. He either cleaned the fish for you, or he filleted them. He did a great job, and I can't wait to go again!

If you click on this picture to see it bigger, you will see a seal. They were so playful and performing for us, but I was never fast enough with my camera!!

Have you seen the movie The Birds by Alfred Hitchcook? Well, all the birds following us were creeping me out a bit. I couldn't resist, had to take a picture! The reason they were following is because the fish were being cleaned and filleted, so they were getting the leftovers.

Sunday

My son Mike and his new bike!

My son Mike just got his new motorcycle on Thursday, and he is so excited to finally get it! He has been wanting a bike forever, and decided it was time to do it. I told him I was worried about him having one, but he promised me he would drive safely, and buy a good helmet! I know he is an adult, but I still worry, you know how Mom's are! lol
Anyway, I just wanted to share these few pictures of Mike on his bike! If you are reading this Mike....always be safe ok? I can't wait to see pictures of your journeys, this is a new beginning! You know what I mean.
Have a great day!

Friday

I was going to be BAD!!! lol

Well, a couple weekends ago, there was a used stamp sale at the LSS  so I loaded up a big bag of stamps that I haven't used forever, some even new. I kinda forgot about it! I went into the store to pick up a couple things (probably alot more than a couple), and Dejah reminded me of the stamp sale, and handed me a gift certificate for all the stamps she sold for me! YEAH!!!! Here I planned on spending money, and I got everything free....well, not free, but you know what I mean!! And I still have almost half of my gift certificate left! I picked up some gorgeous papers, ink jet vellum, gesso, clear spica glitter pen, stickles, 2 punches, 5 Amuse stamps, and 1 inkadinkado stamp! I know it doesn't sound like much, but these things really add up! lol

Thanks for stopping by, and I will have some cards for you to see later!

Challenge Me Thursday - Patterned Paper

Evening Everyone,

Urgh....the paper that Val gave me to use.....I just can't tell ya how much I don't like it! I have a card all finished, and it's AWFUL!!! I mean really truly awful. I am hot, it's so humid here, so I think I am going to have another shower, and go to bed. I am up really early, so if I can't think of something to save my ugly card, I will just take a picture of it how it is....urgh.....I didn't realise how stumped I would be with one piece of patterned paper? I guess it's really just not me, but, that's no excuse! lol I think it was probably fine, until I decided to stamp, stamp, stamp on the background paper...now it's tooooo much!!!

I am sorry Val, but this one really has to wait til morning!!! lol Hopefully I will dream up something to save it, and I don't have much of the paper left...urgh

I am really challenged....lol
See ya in the morning!
:)
Kim

Edited to add: Ok, I got up this morning and took the card apart, and basically just put everything onto a white card base with no stamping. Looks 100% better than it did last night, but I still don't like it! lol

The tree is from Inkadinkado, the oval is from Amuse. The sentiment is from CHF.
Thanks for stopping by!

Challenge Me Thursday - Already have a challenge

I was at the lss yesterday and my friend Val bought me a piece of 12 x 12 d/s paper from Bo Bunny. Val knows about my Thursday challenges and issued me a challenge to use this paper. Now, if you saw the paper, you would know it's NOT me! It has red/orange, mint green, and brown in it! And it's floral....hmmmm....the upside is, the backside is much prettier, to me anyway! lol Although I think she meant for me to use the floral side! I am going to have to give this some serious thought! I will take a picture of the paper later, and who knows, might get my card done today for the challenge!

Thanks for checking in today! Check back tomorrow to see the challenge card!
:)

Tuesday

ATC Challenge

I was issued a challenge to make an ATC using the 1920's Lady TAC stamp. Now I haven't done an ATC for ages, and my stuff isn't really artsy, so I was intimidated to even make one! I guess it's ok, but I have seen so many that are better!! lol

I stamped the image on BG paper, then cut it down a bit. I coloured in the flowers with Copic markers, and then over top with the clear Spica glitter pen. I then cut my background paper to 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 and randomly stamped the Inkadinkado swirl, and coloured a bit with the clear Spica glitter pen. I then distressed the edges of it all with Tim Holtz distress inks. I used d/s foam tape for lift the image off the background, then added some dew drops for a bit of interest.

Thanks for stopping by today!

Challenge Me Thursday - Monochromatic

Evening Everyone,

Since I already had a bunch of green c/s out, I thought I should do a monochromatic card (thanks for the challenge Robin) using a couple new Amuse stamps that I picked up on the weekend. I stamped the margarita on green c/s and coloured a bit with a green copic marker, then went over the whole glass with clear spica glitter pen, and the green spica for the lime and the drink inside the glass. It's really shimmery irl. I stamped the glass in the background with versamark as well. Then I put a strip of paper thru the cuttlebug using swiss dots, layered and added green silk ribbon. The sentiment is stamped in black archival ink, and then a couple dew drops for good measure! lol I don't normally do cards this small (4 x 4), but these stamps are so tiny that it called for a smaller card.

Thanks for the challenges ladies, I hope you come back next week to give me some more!!

Have a great evening and thanks for stopping by!

Dance of the Butterflies

Afternoon All,

It's an awesome day here in Halifax! It's raining and the humidity is GONE!! Yeah....I have actually been stamping today, was to hot and humid before to even think about stamping. My friend from the Stamp Shack and I are doing 3 card challenges together. The first one was to make a card using the Dance of the Butterflies with alcohol inks.

I used cranberry, stream, and latte with the extender, and then stamped and embossed the image on top with versamark and black powder. I then rubber versamark over it and put clear embossing powder over and heated. I did that 3 times, to get the look of not just a piece of paper. I then edged the piece with silver krylon pen and layered with olive and current paper. I cuttlebugged one piece of the background olive paper with the swiss dots folder. Cut a few strips of coordinating papers and taped them together, then added my ribbon in the center. Stamped the sentiment on the bottom and embossed, then added a few dew drops for a bit more interest.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I will be back a bit later with my Thursday Challenge card!
:)
